LINDSAY: Local MP Jamie Schmale today announced $680,255 in funding to 97 organizations across the riding to create summer jobs for young workers this summer.
Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) helps students gain the skills and experience they will need to be successful now and in the future, while earning money for the upcoming school year. CSJ provides funding to not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers and small businesses with 50 or fewer employees.
“Canada Summer Jobs program will allow us to help young Canadians with the skills and experience they need to get jobs,” stated Schmale. “These new jobs in Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock will help students, employers and our local economy.”
Schmale encouraged more organizations to apply earlier this year, when the application process for Canada Summer Jobs was extended in February.
“I would like to congratulate all of the local employers who successfully received funding on their applications through the Canada Summer Jobs program,” said Schmale. “This program is an asset not only to our riding and youth, but right across our country as well”
Overall, the $680,255 that will be received in Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock will be dispersed over 97 different employers for a total of 256 jobs being created over the summer.
