LINDSAY: As the Canadian Hearing Society strike enters its eighth week, local MP Jamie Schmale is encouraging both sides in the dispute to work towards a deal as soon as possible.
“We’re talking about essential services for supporting our Deaf, Oral Deaf, Deafened, and Hard of Hearing community,” stated Schmale. “I believe it is imperative for both sides to head back to the table and work towards a deal.”
“Since March 6th, Employees at the Canadian Hearing Society have been on strike,” explained Schmale. “I’ve heard from concerned constituents about the affects of the strike on their personal lives.”
The Canadian Hearing Society has been serving our Deaf and Hard of hearing community since 1940. They provide services, products, and information that remove barriers to communication for people who are Deaf, Oral Deaf, Deafened and Hard of Hearing.””
